Pass me my inhaler!

Hey Everybody -

On a recent outing in the southwest USA, dazzled (addled?) by the hot sun, we decided that what we really need to do is run a (half) marathon with all of our nearest and dearest friends. Immediately, we started designing T-Shirts. And then we thought about running.

Our goal is the Edinburgh (half) marathon in summer 2010 - and we really want some company. Mostly this idea came out of wanting to do something with our friends - all of them, whether or not they know each other. So you should invite your friends too. Since we want to do something all together but live all over the place (UK, USA, France, India, Austria, Canada, Germany...) we're going to have to do something all together online at first (see notes about blog below). Of course those of you who live in either Tucson or Edinburgh might see one of us on your doorstep in running shoes looking peaked.

Here's our plan:

1. We're setting up a blog where we can bitch about running and also have a training schedule (with multiple levels).

2. Run.

3. We will run a half marathon before Christmas 2009.

4. Run some more.

5. Write on the blog.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 ad nasuem.

7. Encourage one another to keep going.

8. Communally choose a charity to support through our majestic athletic endeavors.

9. Go to Edinburgh.

10. Run a (half) marathon! / Run the nearest (half) marathon!

11. Do something else in 2011.

The summer of next year might seem like a long time away but some of us don't run, so we thought that was the most reasonable option. Plus, surprisingly, there are not a lot of marathons in the UK in the Christmas holidays which was our first choice. (Anyone want to run a marathon in Fort William in November? Didn't think so.)

So, what do you think? We are serious. We've even got an email address (for all of those encouraging training notes).

make it happen,
Lyndsey and Lisa

P.S. Madeleine, you have no choice, you're in.

  1. First of all, you guys know that you're crazy, right? Ok, good.

Second, sounds fun! I have no idea where I might be in Summer 2010, but I think I could train for a half marathon.

Third, ONLY 41 DAYS UNTIL EUROVISION 2009! (Sorry, just had to get that in there. You know.)
